Recruit

Work somewhere the handover matters.

We are a small senior team in Tokyo. We hire rarely, and when we do we look for people who would rather explain a decision than defend it.

Culture

How we actually work.

There is no junior tier doing the real work while someone senior presents it. Everyone here talks to clients, writes the plan, and owns what they ship. That is only possible with a small team, which is why we intend to stay one.

We work at a pace that can be maintained for years. Deadlines are real and we meet them, but a schedule that requires heroics is a planning failure, and we treat it as one.

Write things down

Decisions live in documents, not in someone's memory. If it was not written down, it will be re-litigated in six months.

Say the difficult thing early

A plan we believe is wrong gets challenged in the meeting, not in a retrospective. Clients hire us for that as much as for the code.

Sustainable by default

Predictable hours, remote-friendly, and genuine time off. The second half of our name is not decoration.

Three working languages

English, Japanese and Chinese are all first-class here. You need one fluently and a willingness to work alongside the others.

Openings

Current openings.

Roles are based in Tokyo with substantial remote flexibility. We sponsor visas for candidates already eligible to work in Japan or able to relocate.

Full-timeTokyo / Remote-friendly

Own features end to end across TypeScript, React and a Node or Go back-end. You will talk to clients directly, write the technical plan, and be responsible for what happens after handover.

Applied AI Engineer

Full-timeTokyo / Remote-friendly

Build retrieval systems and LLM-backed features that reach production, including the evaluation and cost work that makes them trustworthy. Strong Python and a healthy scepticism about model output required.

Technical Project Manager

Full-time / ContractTokyo

Hold the thread between client intent and engineering reality across several concurrent engagements. Suited to someone technical enough to challenge an estimate and read a pull request.

Apply

Nothing that fits?

We read every speculative application. Tell us what you have built, what you would want to work on, and in which languages you are comfortable working.

Process

Our hiring process.

Three conversations, no take-home marathon, and a decision within two weeks of the first call.

01

Intro call

Forty-five minutes with one of the founders. What you have worked on, what you want next, and what we are actually like to work with.

02

Technical conversation

We walk through a real problem together — no whiteboard puzzles. You may bring your own code to discuss instead if you prefer.

03

Paid working session

A short paid piece of realistic work, scoped to a day. You see how we operate; we see how you think. Then we decide, both ways.

Let's talk about what you're building.

Tell us where the project stands — an idea, a stalled build, or a system that has outgrown its foundations. We'll tell you honestly whether we're the right partner, and what we'd do first.
